Heute ist der erste Tag des Märchensommers und – als ich das hier schreibe – habe ich keine Ahnung, ob irgendjemand mich begleiten wird, aber das hält mich nicht davon ab das hier trotzdem zu tun. Außerdem werdet  ihr die Chance haben etwas zu gewinnen. ;) (Und da es unter deutschen Lesern geteilt wurde, gibt es diese Beiträge zweisprachig)

Wenn ihr das hier lest, habe ich bereits mit dem ersten Band der Märchenspinnerei angefangen:

Der Axolotlkönig

Fynn, ein beliebter Musiker, findet sich 20 Zentimeter groß und mit merkwürdigen Auswüchsen wo sein Hals sein sollte, in einem Aquarium wieder; und hat keine Ahnung, wie er hierher gekommen ist.

Aber es scheint, als wenn es gerade rechtzeitig war, denn seine neue Mitbewohnerin Leonie hat gerade nicht nur die letzte Verbindung an ihre Großmutter, sondern auch zum Leben verloren. Gehänselt in der Schule sieht Leonie nur noch einen Ausweg.

Kann der axolotifizierte Fynn sie überzeugen, dass das eine schreckliche Idee ist?

Da das hier ein geplanter Beitrag ist, kann ich euch noch nicht mehr dazu sagen, aber es kann sein, dass ich bereits etwas auf Goodreads (und dadurch Twitter) geschrieben haben, wenn ich etwas interessantes gefunden haben. Schaut da also ruhig mal vorbei.

Zusätzlich dazu, da die Märchenspinnerinnen die Idee der Challenge ziemlich toll finden, haben sie ein Leserunden-Gruppe auf Facebook aufgesetzt, in dem wir das Buch/die Bücher mit der/den Autorin/nen besprechen können. Ihr findet die Gruppe hier: märchenhafte Leserunde.

UND, und das ist, wo die Challenge anfängt, haben sie beschlossen mir drei E-Books der jerweiligen Märchen (inlusive dem noch nicht veröffentlichten Im Bann der zertanzten Schuhe) zur Verfügung zu stellen, damit Leute, die die Bücher noch nicht haben ebenfalls mitlesen können.

Was musst du tun, um eines der fünfzehn Märchenspinnerei E-Books zu gewinnen?

Worum geht es in der Challenge?

Die Märchensommer Challenge läuft vom 6. Juni bis 25. August und das Hauptziel ist es Märchen zu lesen und darüber zu reden.

Ich selbst möchte die Bände der Märchenspinnerei und ein paar Märchensammlungen lesen, die noch immer auf meinem SuB liegen. Also habe ich mich dazu entschieden, daraus eine Challange zu machen. Es war anfangs hauptsächlich für mich selbst gedacht, aber da die Märchenspinnerinnen die Idee so gut gefiel, habe ich beschlossen sie ein bisschen ernsthafter zu gestalten.

Dadurch werde ich euch die Bücher vorstellen, die ich lese und euch über Märchen im Allgemeinen Fragen stellen. Zusätzlich dazu wird es zwölf Weekend Guess-Fragen und verschiedene Beiträge über Märchen geben.

Und das Beste: Während all dem könnt ihr Punkte sammeln, um die Chance zu haben am Ende einen der Preise zu gewinnen.

Wie kann ich Punkte sammeln?

Punkte werden gesammelt durch:

• Das Beantworten der Fragen (1 Punkt)
• Reviewen oder Vorstellen eines Märchen(buch)s, dass du gelesen hast (3 Punkte)
• Richtige Beantwortung eines Weekend Guess’ (5 Punkte)
• Bonuspunkte für kreative Zusatzaktionen

Ich werde die Punkte notieren und diejenigen mit den meisten, werden dann die größte Chance haben einen der Preise zu gewinnen. Um das zu tun, müsst ihr mir natürlich Bescheid geben (meine Kanäle könnt ihr als Liste unter dem Beitrag finden), immer wenn ihr etwas veröffentlicht. ;)

Da das Wetter wärmer und mein Drang drinnen zu bleiben größer wird – und ein gewisses Päckchen gestern angekommen ist, dessen Inhalt nach mir ruft – habe ich mich entschieden diesen Sommer etwas Besonderes zu machen. [..]

Wie auch immer, lasst uns über Märchen reden…

Wie ich schon mal erwähnt habe, spielten Märchen eine große Rolle in meiner Kindheit. Ich erinnre mich an Sonntagmorgende, an denen meine Mutter das Frühstück vorbereitet hat und mein Vater und ich im Bett zusammengekuschelt lagen und uns Geschichten ausdachten, wie Bucks Bunny und andere Charaktere eine Prinzessin retteten. Ich erinnre mich an die Sonntagsessen im Wohnzimmer, wenn im Fernseher das Sonntagsmärchen lief und wir uns die zigste Wiederholung angesehen haben.
Ich habe gelernt Baba Yaga und Väterchen Frost zu respektieren, ich habe gesehen, wie eine verwöhnte Prinzessin ihre Lektion von König Drosselbart gelernt und eine andere endlich den Klang des singenden, klingenden Bäumchens vernommen hat. Ich sah einen jungen Mann Feuer, Wasser und Posaunen überwinden (was, wie ich gerade bemerkt habe “To got to Hell and Back” bedeutet und mich nicht länger darüber wundern lässt, warum ich das gleichnamige Lied von Sabaton so gut finde…) und bin auf viele andere Abenteuer in den alten DEFA und Russischen Märchenfilmen gegangen.

Aber da hat es nicht aufgehört. Seit Jahren erneuert die ARD jedes Jahr um die vier Märchen und Weihnachten und Neujahr ist es für uns ein Muss die neuen Folgen zu schauen.
Wann immer ein Märchen im Fernsehen kommt ist es sehr wahrscheinlich, dass wir es uns ansehen.
Es sollte also niemanden überraschen, dass ich nur eine kleine Szene brauche um zu wissen welches Märchen und welche Version es ist. Oder das ich gewisse Stellen ohne groß nachzudenken zitieren kann. ;)  (Und Leute sagen das deutsche Fernsehen ist scheiße, aber wenn sie etwas können, dann sind es Märchen. :D)

“Aber Märchen kommen doch aus Büchern und Erzählungen!”, könnte man sich beschweren.

Natürlich tun sie das. Aber in einer Zeit, in der es immer schwerer wird Kinder zum Lesen zu bringen, ist es wahrscheinlicher, dass sie sich eine Filmversion davon anschauen. Ich meine, schaut euch doch nur mal Disney und das ganze Geld an, das sie über ihr Prinzessinnen-Merchandise machen. ;)

Abgesehen davon haben Märchen über die Jahrhunderte eine ziemliche Wandlung durchgemacht. [...]

Ich habe einige Märchenbücher Zuhause, angefangen von Sammlungen der Grimm’schen Märchen und anderer Klassiker, über Sammlungen zu Lokalen Geschichten oder Hexen, bis zu Sammlungen zu Schottischen und Japanischen Märchen, die ich tatsächlich bisher nur überflogen habe. Mir wurden trotzdem diverse Märchen auch vorgelesen. ;)
Und natürlich der Inhalt des gestrigen Päckchen, das nichts anderes als die Bände zwei, drei und vier der Märchenspinnerei Märchen Adaptierungen enthielt.

Die Märchenspinnerei ist eine Gruppe von zwölf Autorinnen die sich bekannte Märchen ausgesucht und zu etwas Neuem verändert haben. Begleitet von dreizehn bloggenden Feen veröffentlichen sie jeden Monat ein neues Buch zu einem neuen Märchen. (Ihr könnt ihnen auf u.a. Facebook und Twitter folgen)

Als ich von dem Projekt erfahren habe war ich neugierig und mittlerweile habe ich die ersten vier Bände Zuhause (den ersten habe ich als signierte Version gewonnen ;) ), die darauf warten von mir gelesen zu werden.

Dem Märchensommer

Da die Märchenspinnerei-Bücher nach mir rufen, habe ich beschlossen sie diesen Sommer zu lesen (und potentiell zu reviewen). Wenn ich soweit komme, will ich mich auch meinen Märchensammlungen widmen. Also anstatt bis zur dunklen Winterzeit zu warten, in der man sich normalerweise einkuschelt um Märchen zu lesen, mache ich das im Sommer. Ohne einkuscheln, hoffentlich. :D

Mein Zeitrahmen wird grob vom 6. Juni bis zum 25. August sein, also ausreichend Zeit für ein paar relativ kurze Bücher. Nicht, dass mich das von der Prokrastination abhalten würde. ;)

Lange Rede, kurzer Sinn:

Ich finde Märchen toll und es gibt ein paar großartige Adaptierungen.
Ich möchte die Märchenspinnerei-Bücher im Sommer lesen und lade euch ein mitzumachen (sie oder andere mit Märchen in Verbindung stehende Bücher zu lesen).
Wenn genügend Leute Interesse zeigen, werde ich es zu einer “Challenge” ausbauen in der Fragen beantwortet werden müssen und man potentiell einen Preis/Preise gewinnen könnte.

Black Grass

This comic literally starts with something that goes bump in the night, so it was kind of also the inspiration for the title.
Black Grass tells the story of Reverent Abel Ruby (front) who besides being a preacher is also a medium (according to the description is he also clairvoyant, but that hasn’t appeared yet) and therefore able to interact with ghosts. One ghost in particular – Blue Valentine (back) gets him into a rather sticky situation involving hellish bureaucracy…

As I’ve been putting up finishing this for quite a while now, I think, it’s about time to face the truth:
I’m bored by this segment.

I don’t really want to get rid of it entirely, but I do think I prefer doing it similar to what I did with the The Gamer’s saga and Attacking the Darkness.
In this one I’ll give you a brief overview of the backlog and starting with the next one the “Specials” will be the normal version – hence the change of numbering, even if this one would have been #11. You will still get the occasional movie review, but I think I’ll use this segment more for talking about several things at once and not focusing on one thing alone as I do in those.

What is this about?

Every other Wednesday I will publish a post in which I talk about (the latest or any episode of) a series or a (series of) movie(s).

In most cases this will be a collection of thoughts that cross through the different media.

When you start a series, you have to catch up with new stuff, so of course I watched Orange is the New Black Season 4, started with Lucifer Season 2, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 4 (even if I forgot to talk about Season 3 – Episode 10-17 somehow) and Elementary Season 4 and continued with Marvel’s Netflix adventures and Luke Cage Season 1.

Most of the movies in this list came through Netflix. I just scrolled through different categories and decided to watch them on a whim. This way I watched No Filter – I believe – my first Spanish movie (with subtitles) and I was highly surprised and amazed by [...]

A couple of days ago Aleshanee shared a post on Twitter by Mikka from Mikka liest (Mikka reads) about what it means to be well-read, in addition DarkFairy posted another review that made me look through her reading challenges and all of this made me think (again).
With my affinity to procrastinate I’d like to dwell a bit on these thoughts instead of what I actually should be writing…

Am I well-read?

Mikka’s points about what it means to be well-read can be basically summed up to:

You’re well read if you read more than one book from all kind of genres – even outside your comfort zone – in differing difficulty.

I agree with her sentiment (and hope the summary is correct) and enjoyed her reasoning leading to this, but what does that mean for me?

I don’t want to make my own definition, I’d like to try using the main points of the statement to try figuring out if I would consider myself to be well-read.

As I can’t decide which Webcomic I want to present to you today and instead of continuing with the Gamers-theme from the last few posts, I’ll simply introduce you to a few animated variations of the comics I already told you about.

A not funny series

When I “re-wrote” the first post of this series where I told you about Nichtlustig (Notfunny) the German

one panel Comics by Cartoonist Joscha Sauer, telling the stories of his various characters. These include a Professor, his assistant and their strange experiments; Yetis; suicidal Lemmings, a killer-robot aspiring to become a kindergarten teacher, Mr. Riebmann, who lives in the wall beside his constantly annoyed neighbour and of course Death and his Poodle, who are the not so secret stars of the Comics.

I also mentioned that they had just

finished a successful Kickstarter campaign to animate the Comics as a Cartoon series.

So this of course is the first one I want to talk about – even if this will be boring for those who don’t know German, as they are only synchronized in that language.
With the Kickstarter Sauer wanted to be able to produce a whole series of animated comics, but aimed low and set it up for one episode first. The campaign funded that well that by now two of the six funded episodes are produced, with the remaining four being released in 2017.

Miniaturized Adventures

After I recently talked about Looking for Group and Tiny Dick Adventures in passing it’s creators now released a new project, where the latter got a bigger spotlight.

Starting 31. Augist there will be a 50-60 seconds episode of the so-called Tiny Dick’s Briefs each week, with daily special releases during the release week [aka the week before that].
Additionally to the briefs with random (new) commentary by LFG star Richard will there also be an animated version of one of Sohmers other comics that I’ll talk about on a different day.

As I’m already talking about animated comics do I feel like a can’t leave out Simon’s Cat. Different to the other two that were (web)comics first and were animated later, was this one animated first before also releasing comic book versions – at least from what I know.

But before we start into the movie review let’s take a look at the Ghostbusters in my past:
When I grew up I loved the Real Ghostbusters cartoon series (never quite got into Extreme Ghostbusters though) and I don’t know how many times I watched the re-runs of the original Ghostbusters movie(s). It was quirky, it was fun and it had really cool characters – and lots of ghosts.

So you can probably imagine my scepticism when I heard they wanted to reboot it with a gender-swapped cast. At first I thought it would be just a fan-cast or a joke but when the first Trailers were released it felt more like it was actually going to happen, though it still left me sceptic about it and worried they’d turn it into a fully-fledged gag reel instead of a proper movie.

But what is it about?

Physics Professor Erin Gilbert tries her hardest to get a permanent job at the university she works at, but a book (Ghosts from our Past) she wrote with her high school friend Abby Yates about their scientific theories about ghosts comes round and bites her in the butt when the curator of a supposedly haunted museum turns to her for help.

Furious to find out the book is being sold without her permission she confronts Abby, who is by now working with engineer Jillian Holtzmann on realising their theories. When Erin mentions the curator the three of them (reluctantly in Erin’s case) run off to investigate, but what they find is more than they had ever wished for when they come face to face with a real ghost – and its slime/ectoplasm.

Thanks to the witness account and help of Patty Tolan they soon discover that this and other sightings were not just a coincidence and the aptly called “Ghostbusters”, who everyone things are frauds, have to save New York from a hoard of ghosts, when an overlooked hotel staff member Rowan decides to break the barrier between this world and the ghost realm.

The watching experience

Originally I wanted to watch this with Schmusi and Anna but as it was only available in 3D they had to opt out and I went to see it on my own. When I entered the cinema I was surprised to find so many people from all kinds of different age groups already sitting there (Okay, the schools have summer holidays, it was cinema day and the movie was the discount feature film, but it was still more than I expected). As it turned out most of them were just casually watching as I barely heard any reactions to cameos and inside jokes.

Anyway, as soon as the first ghost was shown and the theme tune started playing I was [...]

The characters

Movies like this stand and fall with their actors and with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones they provided a cast with both comedic talent/timing and the ability to portray more serious elements – even if there weren’t that many.

Stuff I’d like to add

This movie – and especially its actors – received a lot of backlash for daring to reboot such a classic with a gender-swapped cast and that mostly before the movie even started to film.
I honestly don’t understand such sentiments, but I don’t understand a lot of stuff happening in different Fandoms, because I would never even think of doing such a thing…
I’m of the opinion everyone should figure out things for themselves and not complain about something they haven’t even seen yet.

(Event Beitrag für den Blog der HGWAnime)

Auf dem 44. Treffen der HGWAnime in der Klosterruine Eldena konnten die Teilnehmer feststellen, ob sie sich eher zum Digiritter oder doch nur zum Pokémon Trainer eigneten.

Eine Frage von Treffsicherheit und Geschick

Um diese Frage zu beantworten mussten sie sich diversen Tests unterziehen, bei denen ihre Geschicklichkeit, aber vor allem auch ihre Treffsicherheit auf die Probe gestellt wurden.

Bei Fang-Fang-Pokémon mussten Häkel-Pokébälle durch die Löcher in einer selbst bemalten Torwand und bei den Schwarzen Türmen, Ringe über die Türme geworfen werden um Punkte zu sammeln. Da die Teilnehmer schrecklich talentiert darin waren, das hinzubekommen, gab es in diesen Spielen eine zweite Runde, bei der sie dann auch schon Punkte bekamen, wenn sie das Mew auf der Wand bzw. die Turmhalterung an sich trafen.

The Winners take it all

Wir ihr es euch vielleicht schon denken könnt, gab es dieses Mal keinen einzelnen Gewinner, sondern jeder konnte etwas gewinnen. Durch die verschiedenen Spiele wurden Punkte gesammelt, die dann im Anschluss in Preise eingetauscht werden konnten.

Aus irgendeinem Grund pendelte sich die Punktzahl bei vielen bei 550 ein und – wie nach den Fischen nicht anders zu erwarten – hatte sich Flo mit mehr als 700 Punkten an die Spitze gesammelt, auch wenn es dafür keinen Sonderpreis gab.

Die Preise wurden von ein paar Leute selbst gemacht und das gab es zur Auswahl:

• Pokémon Kakao-Karten von abgemeldet (schwarz-weiß, links oben), panicYoYo (bunt, oben mittig) und AnnaTao (bunt, unten rechts)
• Digimon Kakao-Karten von AnnaTao (bunt, unten links)
• Digimon Lesezeichen von In-Genius (farbig-weiß, oben rechts)
• Häkel-Pokébälle von Xion-chanXIV (nicht abgebildet)
• Fimo-Figuren (Megastein-/Wappen-Anhänger, Baby Digimon) von AnnaTao (nicht abgebildet)

Ein paar von ihnen waren so beliebt, dass wir nochmal nachdrucken müssen, damit jeder den gewünschten Preis bekommen kann. Ein großes Dankeschön an dieser Stelle an alle Künstler und Bastler!
